Date Difference Calculator

Days between two dates — exact years/months/days, total days, weeks, and working days.

The two dates are the same — pick different dates to see the gap.

About this tool

How many days until the deadline? How long between the invoice date and today? How many working days does the project actually have? Counting on a calendar is error-prone (off-by-one mistakes are almost guaranteed); this calculator answers precisely, in every format the question gets asked.

Pick two dates — order doesn't matter, the tool normalizes it — and get the gap four ways: the exact calendar difference in years, months and days (leap-year correct); the total number of days; weeks plus remaining days; and working days, counting Mondays through Fridays only. The working-days figure is the one professionals usually need — deadlines, notice periods, SLA windows and payroll all run on business days, and it's the hardest one to count by hand.

The everyday uses are endless: days until a wedding or exam, the exact length of a notice period, how overdue an invoice is, project duration for a proposal, visa-stay day counts, or settling exactly how many days old a milestone is. One stated limitation: working days exclude weekends but not public holidays, since those differ by country and region — subtract your local holidays from the working-day count. Everything computes instantly, in your browser.

  3. 3Read the gap as years/months/days, total days, and weeks.
  4. 4Use the working-days figure for deadlines and business timelines (remember to subtract public holidays).

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculation include both the start and end dates?

It counts the nights between them — from the 1st to the 5th is 4 days. This matches how ages, deadlines and durations are conventionally measured. If your context counts both endpoints inclusively (some legal deadlines do), add 1.

How are working days counted?

Every Monday-to-Friday between the two dates, excluding weekends. Public holidays are not excluded, because they vary by country and even by state — subtract your local holidays from the figure for an exact business-day count.

Are leap years handled correctly?

Yes — the calculation uses real calendar dates, so February 29th and varying month lengths are all accounted for. The years/months/days breakdown is exact, not an approximation based on 365-day years.

Can I calculate days until a future date?

Yes — set the first date to today and the second to the future date. The total-days figure is your countdown, and the working-days figure tells you how many business days remain.
