Picks use your browser's cryptographic random generator for genuine fairness — good for raffles, giveaways, classroom selection and team assignments. Everything runs locally; nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
When you need to choose someone fairly — a giveaway winner, a student to answer, who goes first, which team member takes a task — a random name picker removes any hint of bias and makes the choice feel fair to everyone. Paste your list of names, one per line, press the button, and a short suspense animation lands on a randomly chosen winner.
The fairness here is real, not cosmetic: the pick uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator, the same quality of randomness used for security, so every name has a genuinely equal chance — no subtle weighting toward the top or bottom of the list. For raffles and giveaways where each person should win only once, the raffle mode removes each winner from the pool after they're drawn, so you can pick first, second and third place in sequence without repeats.
A running list of recent picks keeps track of who's been chosen, useful when selecting several in a row. It works for any list of any length, entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, no signup, no limits. Teachers use it for cold-calling and group selection, streamers and marketers for giveaways, teams for assigning tasks or deciding lunch. Fair, fast, and genuinely random.

Frequently asked questions
Is the name picker genuinely random and fair?
Yes — it uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same quality used for security purposes. Every name has an exactly equal probability, with no bias toward any position in the list. It's as fair as a physical draw.
How do I pick multiple winners without repeats?
Turn on raffle mode. Each winner is removed from the list after being drawn, so subsequent picks come only from the remaining names — perfect for drawing first, second and third place, or selecting a group one at a time without anyone winning twice.
Is there a limit to how many names I can add?
No practical limit — paste as many as you like, one per line. The picker handles short lists and very long ones equally well, and it all runs in your browser so there's no upload size restriction. Empty lines are ignored automatically.
Are my names uploaded anywhere?
No — everything runs locally in your browser. Your list of names is never sent to any server, which matters when the names are customers, students or employees. Once the page has loaded, it even works offline.
